Our client is part of a major group and operates in 40 countries, with nearly 29,000 employees.

It offers tailor-made service solutions for those working in extreme conditions in on- and off-shore locations and its activities also cover Corporate Services, Healthcare, Education and Defence sectors.

They are seeking a Catering Operations Manager to be based in Angola, West Africa.  The position is permanent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple client operations from different nationalities within Angola where our client is providing catering, housekeeping and laundry and maintenance services.

Your main responsibilities will include the overall accountability for the preparation and control of budgets, monthly P & L accounts, client relationships, business development, staff management and ensure an adequate supply and compliance with our clients QHSE policies and procedures.

You will ensure client satisfaction, have financial, accountability and will ensure outstanding relationships with the client at head-quarters level as well as field level.

You will co-ordinate and manage the day-to-day activities at all sites and will carry out regular inspections of all facilities.

You will be responsible for the training, development and management of the units staff.

You will enforce company ethics codes, policies and practices and will provide training and support to site personnel and be active in ensuring that reliability is maintained.

You will analyze and follow closely the qualitative and quantitative results and the  security of the operations.

You will implement procedures for continuous improvement towards your teams.

You will execute a cost controlling activity and monthly closings for every unit.

Finally you will create a positive network with local community organizations and will ensure a visible commitment to Health and Safety issues in all aspects of the business.

Knowledge and Skills:

  You will be an accomplished Catering Operations Manager with a proven track record in contract catering ideally in Africa or the Middle East.

You must have multi- site management experience and have a strong knowledge of international cooking.

Your practical experience should be supported by some formal qualification in catering and / or hospitality and you should have a good understanding of the Middle East and Africa.

Your management experience must have included full business unit responsibility ideally across various size of units and you will have experience in workplace training and mentoring.

Knowledge of oil and gas and petrochemical industries is highly desirable.

You must be able to manage routine and complex contract activities with the ability to overview situations, review and evaluate, defining and revising set plans to achieve contract goals.

You will have experience of financial analysis and management skills in a profit and loss environment coupled with outstanding budgetary and cost control management skills.

You will be able to show that you fully understand the importance of the relationship between sales success and quality of service delivery.

You will be energetic, highly motivated, results oriented and capable of working in a team.

Capable of independent thought and possess excellent planning and organisation skills, able to work to tight deadlines, you should be fluent in written and spoken English. The ability to speak Portuguese and French is desirable but not essential.

Ideally you should have knowledge of ISO quality system and continuous improvement processes.

Above all you must have the natural ability and courage to drive change, maintain morale, deliver results and an ability to impart knowledge, delegate, train and empower your team, many of whom will be African and Portuguese speaking.

You will be highly motivated, results oriented and capable of working in a team with an ethical attitude to business and commitment to our clients values and ethical principles.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.
