Attention K-9 Unit! by Carmen Brown

Just incase you missed it, yesterday on the morning show, we had a police officer from Elon come in with his partner. His partner is a K-9 named ‘Jag’! Jag is not only a drug dog, he also does searches for missing people. I had never really been that up close and personal with a police dog, and let me tell you, they are impressive creatures!

So after a while of hanging out in the studio, I asked the officer if I went and hid, could the dog find me in the building? You know he did! I was imagining when the dog found me, it would be like on an episode of Cops where the dog pounces on the person and holds them down. Ahhhhh!!!

After being reassured, I went and hid in the back of the building in the conference room. Sure enough within 5 minutes of me hiding, Jag found me. When he came running in the room, it was nothing like I had imagined. He did not try to attack me or get crazy, he simply sat beside me and then started playing with his toy! Ha-ha – It was too much fun. Anytime Officer Perry wants to come back and bring his dog, he is more than welcome!

I Will Miss You Guys! by Carmen Brown

I’m not gone yet, but the days are getting shorter and my anticipation is getting longer! After all this time, I am 3 weeks down to the big day (that is if he does not make an early appearance). Even though I will not be with you in the mornings for a while, I’m still going to blog and try to keep in touch as much as possible. This is a universal experience that many women can relate to and some are looking forward to experiencing. It can be overwhelming and magical at the same time! In the first couple of weeks I will be adjusting to the new changes, but after that I will try to catch everybody up. Meanwhile, help me keep the guys in line while I’m out! I know it sounds impossible, but I have faith!

Summer is Here Kids! By Carmen Brown

Summer is back in full effect with 97 Degree weather to prove it! In the past I could have opened the windows and let the breeze flow through the house even in weather like this, but now 9 months pregnant that story has changed. Big Time! As soon as I walk in the door, I spread out on the sofa and bask in the glory of my AC (ha-ha) When I finally get out the door, it’s probably on the way to the pool. My new friend Candy at The Stratford at Hillcrest gave me a couple of pool passes for the summer. I could kiss her a hundred times for that! It has been my saving grace on days like this. Beach fever is in the air and everybody is ready to go. Usually by this time of year I have gone at least once, but I think it is better to stay closer to home where my doctors are for now. Myrtle Beach is wonderful, but I don’t want to deliver a baby there. Can you blame me? Anyway, there will be plenty of time to hit the coast later this summer, but meanwhile I have a job to do. Learn how to be a mommy, balance work and family and everything else in between! There is no manual that can prepare me for this, but I’m confident I will succeed. Also, I have a lot of support and love that will surround me those first couple of months. This summer will be great for Simon as well. You should be able to hear lots of different guests on the air while I’m out on maternity leave. I already know a couple of faces coming through, and trust me, they are crazy! I plan on taking leave 8 to 12 weeks, depending on how I feel about it after he is born. Get ready for a great summer and many surprises on The Wicker Show! Make it a good one J

So what happened today? By Carmen Brown

This morning we had a great time in the Simon studio. Some days get ya going more than others, and this was one of those fabulous days! So, I had this list I read out to give men tips on how to approach a woman. It can be borderline sweet/creepy if handled the wrong way, right? Here are a couple of tips that men can take notes on, that’s if you want to get past ‘Can I Buy You a Drink?’ Rule #1 – Don’t Fidget. Seriously it looks awkward! Rule #2 – Look at her in her eyes, when you look away it kind of creeps us out! Rule #3 – Speak Clearly, if you speak under your breath or without confidence, it can be a big turn-off. One more for ya – Rule #4 – SMILE!! There is nothing sexier than being greeted with that intriguing smile (that is unless your teeth are busted - -911 - -find a dentist!) Hope this helps fellas! Make it a good one!

Skip writes a blog? No way!

And so a friend of mine emailed me and said check up this thing called Jott.com. I guess it's in data, but it's pretty cool. You make phone call and you tell it who to email, and it just email your voice message, it actually translates that into text, so that's kind of cool. And, since you can post to blogger with an email, I thought well maybe it can post from a phone call to my blog and see how it works, so anyway this is my first test and if it works, then I don't have to type anymore. Maybe I'll post more often, but maybe not. And it will be very annoying to people who read my blog cause it will be all these stupid things and no one does read my blog anyway, so that actually kind of a plus now. Alright, that will be it, and this is my test of Jott.com.

Well hey that was it. A phone call turned into text that turned into a blog. I just made a phone call. Hmm nice.
