Performed three-dimensional analysis on advanced enhanced-lift wing design.

Trimix heat exchanger analysis

Performed computational fluid dynamics analysis of three-gas heat exchanger to minimize stratification during gas loading.

 

Pharmaceutics projects:

Spray dryers

Performed computational fluid dynamics analyses of spray dryers, used to produce amorphous pharmaceutical solid solutions, in order to optimize performance and predict scale-up behavior.

Fluidized bed reactors

Performed computational fluid dynamics analysis to model the application of controlled-release coatings to multi-particulates.

Melt congeal apparatus

Performed computational fluid dynamics analysis to model and optimize multi-particulate production.

Dosage formulation for controlled release

Used computational fluid dynamics to model and optimize multi-layer tablet drug release profiles.

 

Industrial projects:

Advanced building air remediation systems

Performed computational fluid dynamics analysis in support of the design of a ventilation duct-mounted air purification system using high-intensity, short-duration UV light pulses, to protect facilities and personnel from bio-terror attacks.

Fuel cell stack inlet manifold optimization

Performed computational fluid dynamics analysis to optimize manifold geometry for fuel pellet and electrolyte flow rate splits.

Commercial lawn sprinkler analysis

Performed full two phase computational fluid dynamics analysis on sprinkler nozzle in order to correlate water jet distribution and range to small changes in nozzle geometry.

Secure server enclosure design optimization

Performed computational fluid dynamics and thermal analysis in support of the design of a cooling scheme for a secure server enclosure.

 

Medical device projects:

Surgical sterilizers

Performed thermal and computational fluid dynamics analysis on surgical instrument sterilizing devices to predict sterilizing agent concentration and optimize performance.

Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) implants

Performed large-strain, non-linear stress analysis on TMJ implant in order to predict implant deflection at yield.

CAT-scan power supplies

Performed thermal and computational fluid dynamics analysis of under-performing CAT-scan power supply heat sink and heat exchanger.  Optimized design for size, weight, and material cost.

Electro-surgical scalpels

Designed and optimized smoke removal undercarriage for electro-surgical scalpel to avoid infringing on an existing patent.  Improved vacuum performance by over 50%, verified by laboratory testing.

Cardiovascular stents

Performed large-strain, non-linear stress analysis on two separate stent designs.  Modeled life-like loads, including crimping over angioplasty balloon, balloon expansion in the artery, and cyclic loading from arterial blood flow.  Wrote and submitted FDA testing protocols.
