Nesting in the Riverside West complex just of Smuggler’s Way in Wandsworth is an ultra modern Chinese restaurant with top class Thames views. A lot of thought has gone into the look of Blue Thames. From the street vast glass windows entice the eye to marvel at a two-storey blue-lit space; open plan bar on the ground floor, atmospheric restaurant above. Once inside amongst the civilised buzz, you’re inevitably drawn to the bar - an impressive marble clad replica of The Peking Gate of the Great Wall of China. Impressive design features don’t end there - a small fish-filled stream runs through the lower level of the restaurant. The menu? Ostensibly classical Chinese, specialising in Szechuan dishes. This striking Chinese restaurant has 150 covers (60 on the ground floor, 90 upstairs), but can host up to 400 people at a reception. There are a further 24 seats with fab river views outside. Much smaller groups can choose from several cosy private rooms, seating as few as four, and up to 30. Entertainment varies from background music to occasional live jazz and karaoke, though you can bring your own. Stag and hen parties, Christmas dos, birthdays, get-togethers, conferences and charity events are all catered for. Menu choice is the Full Monty, from a la carte to children’s and drinks only.
