FHWA/ ICC Authority - Formerly known as ICC authority, FHWA authority (commonly known as FHWA/ICC) is permission granted by the federal government to transport regulated freight across state lines (Interstate). Any regulated freight that is transported wholly within state lines is considered Intrastate or point to point and is thus controlled on the state level (Intrastate authority). Certain freight is considered "exempt" (such as produce) and therefore bound by statutory regulations. Although exempt commodities do not require FHWA authority to transport them many states do require the registration of your exempt operations. Our fee for filing for your FHWA/ICC authority includes filing for your U.S. DOT NUMBER.
SSRS - Single State Registration System - Required for all carriers engaged in interstate commerce. One fee is paid to the base state for the states that you want to register to travel in. The base state will distribute the funds. First time registrants are required to file with the application a copy of the Certificate of Permit (ICC authority), a copy of the Agents of Process (BOC-3) and a copy of the Proof of Liability Insurance Form BMC 91X or BMC 91.
Monthly trip posting - Posting of fuel and miles by state by truck. Each driver is to record the starting date of trip, trip origin and destination, beginning and ending odometer or hubodometer reading of the trip, power unit number or vehicle identification number, vehicle fleet number and registrant's name. From this data the IFTA report is filed electronically with the appropriate state.
IFTA permits - International Fuel Tax Agreement - Required for all carriers engaged in interstate commerce that have two axles and a gross vehicle weight exceeding 26,000 pound or has three or more axles or is used in combination that exceed gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds. The base jurisdiction is the state from which you will receive your IFTA license and to which you will submit your road tax reports and payments. Your base jurisdictions will issue decals and also send you quarterly tax returns. Trip reports must be kept and reported on a quarterly basis. All jurisdictions traveled in and through and all fuel purchased must be accounted for. Failure to comply will result in penalty and interest along with suspension of the IFTA license. Fees for the IFTA license usually range between $0.00 and $10.00 per set of decals depending on the state.
Permits for each state - If you file for FHWA/ICC you only need to file for permits in the following states: NM, OR, KY, NY and ID. All other states are overridden by FHWA/ICC. If you choose not to file for FHWA/ICC, we can obtain the proper permits for any of the lower 48 states that you want to travel in.
Overweight permits - No need worrying whenever you approach weight stations. We will help keep you legal whenever you have to haul more than the normal limit.
Drug policies - We can provide drug policies for your company with your company name on coversheet for your drivers.
Vehicle maintenance files -We will maintain your company's vehicle maintenance records for you by vehicle. This includes keeping all repairs and maintenance receipts by vehicle.
Process agents - A process agent is a representative upon whom court papers may be served in any proceeding brought against a motor carrier, broker, or freight forwarder. Every motor carrier, or forwarder registered with the Federal Highway Administration must list the name and address of an agent for each state. Brokers are required to list process agents in each state in which they have an office and in which they write contracts. This is a one-time fee, no annual fee. |
