Forecast For Abersoch : Friday 19th April, 2024 - Issued at 7.30am by Chas

Headline Summary: Shower Lottery To Start - But A Fine Afternoon.

Bore da - Good morning from Abersoch... we avoided the worst of the weather yesterday, though there was plenty of cloud and a fairly chilly breeze blowing and we have a noticeable northwesterly wind to start today, which may feed in some showers for a time this morning. However, we should then see a much better afternoon, with clearer skies and that mostly fine theme should extend into the weekend. At the moment, it looks as though Saturday will see the best of the sunshine, with perhaps a bit more in the way of cloud at times on Sunday. Thereafter, next week should see plenty of dry weather, though there will be cloudy spells and so the shower risk could rise at times...

Today: Friday: Strong northwesterly to north-northwesterly winds today and the morning period will see a shower lottery scenario, so some brighter intervals but also the chance of one or two showers blowing through. Potentially dry with some sunshine arriving for the afternoon, with a chance of some decent spells of sunshine developing, with sheltered spots doing OK for warmth. Winds easing down a touch later, but still gusting to fresh and from a northerly quarter. Clear and cold overnight with the wind easing down and sheltered spots could see a touch of grass frost.

Saturday: Mostly fine with sunny spells and patchy cloud. Long sunny spells are possible.. Potentially a breeze from a northerly quarter picking up during the afternoon / early evening, but there is a reasonable chance of a noticeably warmer feel for this day, especially in spots sheltered from the breeze. Cold overnight with clear periods and light winds, with perhaps a touch of grass frost in some locations.

Sunday: Fine with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. Those cloud amounts are uncertain, but we should see hazy sunshine at times during them. Light winds, so feeling quite warm in any sunny spells after a cold start to the day. Perhaps a breeze with a northerly element picking up later.

Monday: A chilly and potentially bright and dry start to the morning, however, cloud amounts are very uncertain on this day, so it is difficult to envisage how much sunshine there may be. Low risk of a shower in the cloudier spells. Not much breeze in the morning with perhaps a northerly breeze picking up in the afternoon. Feeling chilly under any cloudier spells.

Tuesday: Potentially mostly dry and fine with some sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. There may be a northerly breeze, so sheltered spots will do best for a warmer feel.

Outlook: Probably mostly dry on Wednesday and Thursday with a mix of sunshine and cloudier spells. There is likely to be a breeze from a northerly quarter, but any sunny spells should feel pleasant enough. Perhaps turning unsettled for Friday, but there is loads of uncertainty by then.

Extended Outlook: The outlook for the period from Saturday 27th April to Wednesday 1st May ... is for a rather more changeable period, with a mixed bag of weather.
