subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

with 22 comments

These scripts are under /var/lib/dpkg/info/

It seems that removing the script and reinstalling the package in question fixes the problem…

  3. Paroo, try removing the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/mtop.postinst
Then do sudo aptitude mtop reinstall
    Good luck!

      • It’s a command, not a file. You need to type it into a terminal, then tell me what the output was

      • Hi azimot,

I am facing the similar issue, whenever i try to install or upgrade anything:

        dpkg: error processing install-info (–configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
        Errors were encountered while processing:
        install-info
        E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

        Could you please help?
