True Green Chinese Elm TRUE GREEN CHINESE ELM
Ulmus parvifolia

LEAVES: Inequilateral base, single serrations, dark green. Reddish, brown pointed bud. Less than 3" long.

FRUIT: Round samara in the fall. Flowers and fruits in the fall.

GROWTH RATE:
Over 3 ft./yr.

BARK: Beautiful exfoliating and cinnamon in color.
OTHER: Grows in a vase shape. Good city tree. Fibrous rooted and fast growing. Resistant to Dutch Elm Disease. Grows 60' to 80' tall. Flower and fruits in the fall. Drought tolerant, but will tolerate moist sites. Can be messy with lots of fruit falling and causing seedling growth. When receiving a shipment, make sure it is not Ulmus pumila (which has a black, rounded bud). Has become a tremendously popular landscape tree. Many cultivars of this species have been released such as 'Drake', 'Frosty','True Green'.
