Data Collection and 508 Compliance in SharePoint -- for Government Users

Liam Cleary
Microsoft SharePoint MVP

One of the core business requirements government SharePoint professionals have to frequently address is the use of forms for data collection.  Not only is it important to effectively collect vital information through SharePoint,  there are several key challenges – such as Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act -- that require additional  planning with regard to form design and development.

This session looks at using SharePoint Designer, InfoPath Form Services, Custom Code and several 3rd Party components that are available and discusses the pros and cons of each approach compared against real world requirements. We will also discuss critical factors such as security, data storage, data access, and accessibility.

Law & Order: Content Governance in SharePoint

Maggie Swearingen

Bonnie Strong, Senior Content Specialist

SharePoint best practice requires a proper governance model as well a user adoption plan. If you build your SharePoint site without either of these in place, you run the risk of building multiple sites with sprawling content, no standard metadata, a dearth of content management policies, and inadequate security regulations in place. Content experts Maggie Swearingen and Bonnie Strong discuss the importance of content governance and user adoption within the SharePoint context.
