Volkswagen Beetle Headliner Install

How To Install A VW Headliner

Ok .. It's time to install new headliner ... I was truly scared of that action because I never did upholstery stuff ... so ... I accumulated all courage ... bought some vinyl material (3x1.4 m is enough for whole job) and started to plan ...

First thing ... I carefully measured the old headliner ... and made the main piece (to be honest ... my neighbor give me a hand with some sewing ....
just after that ... I ran out to try it on the car ... to be sure I didn't spoiled something

after that ... I made the copy of other pieces ... and put them on their places

Now I'm full of courage :)

Next day was spent with nice smell of glue and beer, with variety of gripping tools ... trying to tense the damn vinyl to avoid wrinkles...

aaah ... rain cant stop me

and ... the sweet taste of victory and pride :)

There's some more wrinkles left ... but I need to wait for one sunny hot day ... to fix that...
Anyway ... Now I'm enjoying driving my nice and clean bug without that bad smell. The whole job was done in approx working 15- 20 hours ... in my case 20 hours split in two weeks :)

Cheers!

Hi, I'm scared as hell too, but what I've seen gives me great courage to try it on my 64 bug. Good job you did. Thanks.

It is not bad like you heard, just prepare your nerves, think forward and measure twice ;)

oh! and don't forget to disconnect the battery or isolate the interior light wires before doing this :)
