John H. Hayes

March 15, 1918 - August 16, 2011

Mr. Hayes was born March 15, 1918 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Green Berry and Hattie (Wilson) Hayes. He grew up and attended schools in Illinois. He married Sibyl Myers on June 26, 1969 in Abilene. He owned and operated John Hayes Pest Control for many years until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Hayes served in the US Army and was a Prisoner of War during World War II. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife Sibyl of Abilene; five nieces and one nephew, Shelia Tindall and Susan Ogle of Abilene, and Janet Ward , Berneda Lynch, Glenda Johnson and Daryl Johnson of Illinois; two great-nephews, Brandon & Evan Tindall, both of Abilene; a great-great-nephew and niece, Riley and Kadee Tindall of Abilene; two stepsons, Gene Allen and wife Barbara of California and Larry Allen and wife Carolyn of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Otis and two sisters, Florence and Frieda; and his first wife, Wilda Allen.
