Beynon Family

The journeys of life – the beautiful highs, the tragic lows, those unexpected twists and turns along our path – are remarkable. What started out as a rag-tag group of college friends enjoying golf, sun and beers together has become an event that has grown in magnitude every year, one that is truly a “beautiful high” in our lives.

That this golf tournament found its life from Bobby’s passing is one of those fascinating twists of fate. When Bobby passed away from cancer at the age of 28 in 1992, the love and support from our family and friends in the wake of the tragedy was staggering. It gave us the means to move forward in life.

This incredible gift of love and support continues even stronger today, and it is embodied in the Bobby Beynon Memorial Golf Tournament. The tourney, started shortly after Bobby’s death by our dear friend Mike Reina, has greater impact with each new tee off. More and more money gets raised for scholarships. Our circle of friends and family gets larger and larger. And we see greater affirmation of life and love, as new friendships are forged and new children are born.

Of course, the tournament is also about plain old fun! The key elements of golf and sun and beers are still at the core – exactly how Bobby would have wanted it.

Thank you for supporting the Bobby Beynon Memorial Golf Tournament and all that it stands for. See you on the course!
