Don’t judge me if you don’t know me

Throughout our life we come across many different people. We live in a diverse world with a lot of different people. The one thing that I also notice is that a lot of people judge me before they get to know me. I always see it. For instance, while walking around campus I see people looking at one another. Although I never hear anyone say anything to the person who is being judged, you can tell by the persons look that they are judging. You know what I am talking about, like when you get this really wierd stare from someone you don’t even know. Then you think to yourself, did I do something to offend the person? Even though we know we didn’t do anything, you feel like nothing when another person is looking down on you. I hate that feeling like I don’t understand why the person is starring or “looking down” at people, but I start wondering what thoughts are going through the stare’s head.

When I go back home I start thinking was I getting starred at for the clothe I was wearing, the way my hair looked, my body type, or maybe there was something in my teeth? Who knows! All I know that it can really hurt the person on the other end because they don’t feel worthy of anything. It just makes the person think that there is something really wrong with them. I believe that it is the best idea for whoever likes to stare to do it with a smile, that way people will not automatically assume that they have been judged. That way the next time you get a look with a smile from another person you know it was them saying a friendly “hello.”

  1. I always see this “stare” around campus, especially among the women. I can also admit that i’ve gotten that “stare” too. I do agree that it can hurt certain people, especially if they have low self-esteem. A negative stare can further impact a persons low self-esteem.
