IMMW 17 - INTERNATIONAL MAGNETIC MEASUREMENT WORKSHOP
La Mola, Terrassa-Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain) 18-23 September 2011
Save the date!
The IMMW17 workshop comes to Barcelona from 18 to 23 September 2011.
The IMMW is a forum for presentations and open discussions on the equipment and techniques used to measure, characterize, and fiducialize magnetic fields - typically of accelerator magnets and insertion devices.
Detail of workshop topics:
• magnetic measurements overview, performance and results
• magnetic measurements techniques and systems
• measurement devices
• magnetic measurements analysis
• software related to magnetic measurements
• magnetic measurement procedures and diagnostic tools
• survey, alignment and fiducialisation
All professionals in the field of magnetic measurements are encouraged to attend. The program consists of presentations by the workshop participants followed by discussions.
The workshop sessions will take place in «La Mola» resort, a place surrounded of forests and fields close to ALBA synchrotron light source. The workshop is a unique opportunity to exchange between experts in a pleasant environment.
To access «La Mola» resort, a bus service will be provided by the organizers from Barcelona city centre (Plaça de Catalunya). There is a direct bus connecting Barcelona airport terminals to Plaça de Catalunya.
The workshop will be held immediately after the 22nd International Conference on Magnet Technology (http://www.mt22.org/) that is this year being held in Marseille, France.
Organizing committees
Information for speakers
All presentations are oral.
Duration of the talks is circa 30 minutes including questions/answers. Please respect the given time constraints.
The files for each contribution must be submitted to the workshop chair (Josep Campmany) or the workshop secretary (Daimí Perez) at least one week before the session is scheduled. This is to properly upload the presentations and all files to the conference system well in advance.
Accepted file formats are Microsoft Power point or Adobe PDF. Please mind a finite resolution of the beamer so even the finest lines will be correctly displayed. Please try to use some reasonable software version as it is not guaranteed to have the latest version of software installed in the conference rooms.

Getting to «La Mola»
Arriving by car
«La Mola» facilities are very close to the AP7 (connecting Barcelona with France) and C58 highways. From the Barcelona city center you can reach the site via C58 (Google Maps).
Airport Barcelona International airport is the closest airport to La Mola and ALBA-CELLS facility. It is well connected to the Barcelona city train stations (BCN-Sants, BCN-Passeig de Gracia, BCN-Plaça de Catalunya). Visit the AENA website for more information (or telephone +34 902 404 704).
You can also reach Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona using the Aerobús, a bus connecting all Barcelona airport terminals with the city center.
You can also easily reach Barcelona center by car (take C32-B direction "Barcelona", merge into C31 via the ramp Barcelona/Ronda Litoral and go to Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes) or the ALBA-CELLS site (Google Maps).
Girona-Costa Brava airport is the second option (AENA site). It is mainly operated by low-cost airlines and is one-hour drive by car to Barcelona.
Due to the closest location to Barcelona, the preferred option if you come by train is to arrive to one of the Barcelona main train stations (BCN-Sants or BCN-Estació de França). Both stations are connected to the subway. Renfe (website) is the spanish railway company. It is recommended to buy a ticket to Plaça Catalunya subway station (Plaça Catalunya is also a train connection). Once in Plaça de Catalunya, you can take the bus provided by the organization on Sunday afternoon.
Recently, a TGV train service has been stablished between Paris and Figueres. From this last city you can take conventional train to Barcelona city centre (Plaça de Catalunya).
Accommodation
As a reference price, a room for single use is 121 € per night (VAT included).
Accomodation is located at La Mola resort, close to Terrassa city. La Mola is surrounded by forests and fields, providing a pleasant environment for scientific and technical discussions.
Please contact directly the hotel for special diets and/or accompanying persons. Extra expenses in meals and events will run on charge of each applicant.
La Mola Principal HayleyDuring the IMMW17 we will have free wireless connection to internet in all rooms of La Mola resort. In addition to that, some desk computer will be available in La Mola reception.
The SSID and password to connect to our wifi network will be delivered at the registration desk.
Guided tour and workshop Dinner
On thursday afternoon, we have organized a Barcelona city guided tour. It will include a visit to Sagrada Familia (Gaudí's most important masterpiece) and a guided tour inside the medieval Barcelona city center.
Workshop banquet will take place in the restaurant "Can Cortada" after the guided tour. It is located in an old manor currently integrated into the city. The origin of the manor was a tower built 1000 years ago by one of the feudal lords of the surroundings of Barcelona.
ALBA Visit
• The visit to the ALBA accelerators will take place on Wednesday afternoon
• Groups of 10-12 people will be organised
• A circuit is defined to visit, machine, beamlines and Magnetic measurements laboratory
• Normal footwear (flat and closed shoes) is strongly recommended.
Please, avoid sandals and high heel shoes
