Preparing for Kenya

Greetings from Little Rock, Arkansas!  It is a cold day here, and preparations for the Medical Mission Trip to Kenya is well underway.  Dr. Buckmiller and others from her team here are busy preparing to get the 2010 Medical Mission to Kenya ready for go!

This year, traveling with World Medical Mission’s, Dr. Buckmiller will join with Emily Copeland (Cleft Team Leader and Specialty Nurse), Diane Bussard (Vascular Anomalies Team Leader and Specialty Nurse), Patti Kymer (Pediatric Anesthesiologist), and Leslie Reed (Pediatric Nurse Anesthetist) all from Arkansas Children’s Hosptial to travel to Kenya for the mission.  There they will join other members to complete a medical outreach for cleft lip and palate patients as well as vascular anomalies.

This marks the first medical mission trip of 2010 for Dr. Buckmiller.  We encourage you to keep up with her travels and let us know what questions you have or comments.  Check back daily for updates on surgeries they have done, encounters they have had, and other interesting details of this medical mission!

You can also visit www.archildrens.org to keep up with what is going on at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, www.birthmarks.org to check out the vascular anomalies program at ACH, or http://www.archildrens.org/medical_services/clinical/ent/cleft_lip_palate.asp for the cleft program at ACH!

Thank you so much for going overseas and aiding in the transformation of cleft affected children! You are a blessing! I have a son born with cleft lip and palate and know first hand the difference a great dr. can make! I am interested in possibly going on the mission to Kenya. Are there any slots available? Please let me know. Good luck to you all and our prayers will be with you.
