The Blessing Course
The practice of blessing and valuing begins with your parents during your childhood. When we receive unconditional love and family blessings from our parents, we have more confidence and freedom to try new things, risk and live a fuller life. If a parent has never received that love communication as a child, they often have trouble expressing value as an adult to people who are important to them. Their lack of confidence and pain is passed on. Not having received the communication of unconditional acceptance and love from your parents affects all your relationships and undermines your confidence in yourself. You are in danger of choosing poor relationships, rejecting good ones, or being susceptible to cults. This is a need that the blessing course can change and with the help of Jesus we are not stuck. It is also never to late to be healed, change and communicate differently to people in your life. We can learn new ways, respond to people that empower us, and gain new skills to nurture others. We don’t need to respond defensively to someone else’s pain but demonstrate peace and wise power. “The Blessing Course” helps you have more freedom to communicate better and develop healthy and intimate relationships. With the help of Christ, it is never to late to develop good communication skills, and show value and blessings to others and yourself. Jesus wants us to be whole. “The Blessing Course” teaches us how to trust and be close to someone with peace and confidence. This is not hard to learn and practice. We do not need to be stuck in our life because of the commitment and love Christ has for us.
Using Christ as a model, participants learn important communication and nurturing skills. In the Bible, Jesus role models how to communicate value and blesses the people all the time. The Bible is an amazing resource book and demonstrate how to bless and build relationships. We also have Biblical teaching on topics such as forgiveness, love, and valuing others. We study the characters of God and Jesus with the view to love them more deeply and understand how their gifts are designed to help us fulfill the best plans for our lives — especially how we relate to each other.
In the workplace, we can enhance the environment by becoming a blessing to the people you work with. By having leaders take the course, it will develop a working atmosphere of respect and wisdom as well as efficiency. If we learn to communicate with honest blessings and value we can change the attitude of even an inefficient employee. We all need to learn and understand the power of our words and attitudes. Bosses who communicate with power and authority by not devaluing your employees will feel more respected. Thus you will get a higher standard of work, done faster with less resentment, negativity, and pressure which leads to criticism, poor atmosphere, health problems, and mistakes. Employees who work under fear and resentment with their bosses have less confidence and are often stressed-out and angry but usually hide it from their supervisors. This makes an inefficient boss. This course, which has been adapted for all businesses, employees and bosses, is also fun to participate in. It uses the Bible as a resource for examples but will have less Christian direction. It can be specifically adjusted for your business. Speaking with blessings and value is surprisingly powerful both for bosses and employees. The people of your office will then take their communication skill home and be happier people. They will then practice and pass on the power of the blessing course to people in their life.
We can learn to be a blessing to our family, friends and coworkers. People will watch you and be drawn to you. In order to do this we need to learn:
- To listen to the people in our world
- To understand what they are trying to communicate and the unspoken communication
- How to respond to them
- How to keep your power and value yourself as well as others
- How to communicate with wisdom and have peace
- Understand ourselves and develop a new confidence
- Healing from past burden
In this course, you will be part of a study group that will:
- Look into the Bible to discover the timeless wisdom that it can offer about human relationshipsand to get to know Jesus Christ, the perfect relationship model
- Study a book called “The Blessing” by American psychologists Gary Smalley and Peter Trent in order to learn what the blessing is
- Have a workbook written by Sharon and Roland Pierrot who learned much about people on the mission field plus Sharon’s training and experience as a counselor, and Roland’s training and experience in business and theology. They both have had many courses in communication and relationship training as well as prayer healing. And from their training have drawn, personal experience, natural gifting, and relationship and guidance with God to write this course
- You will learn and practice communication skills and techniques with members of the group. (You will use only the workbook and the Bible in the sessions. There is homework in this course but most of it is practical.) This course is also fun and creative
- When you finish this course you will understand the power of blessing and studying others and be able to communicate better with the people in your life. You will also have a new strength in yourself and be able to demonstrate value and wisdom to others. You will have a new confidence in yourself as you communicate with understanding and new skills and sense a new healing and power within yourself. You will know the amazingness of God as well as his commitment and love for His people. You will recognize how worthy He is to be honored by His people.
