This wedding has me wildly enthusiastic with all its beauty. Set in the middle of the rainforest, waterfalls and volcano, the intimate and cultural wedding has you holding your breath with each image. Dmitri Markine fabulously captures the true essence of this spectacular wedding. The bride looked radiant in her beautiful purple saree and waiting at the altar was the remarkably cute and benign groom.

Note from Photographer:

Here’s one of the most memorable weddings from 2010.

When you think of destination weddings, most would think of an ocean and sand. This couple however decided to do something a bit different and they got married in Costa Rica,  La Fortuna @ the Springs Resort and Spa ,  near a live volcano & rain forests.  It does rain quite often in the area, but we mostly managed to avoid it over the course of 3 days of photography. If you like animals and birds, Costa Rica is probably one of the best places on earth to experience those up close. There’s no need to drive for hours with binoculars in search of something as it’s all right there in front of you! Sometimes you just need to slow down and look around you.  Chances are you’ll see dozens of birds, monkeys, spiders, frogs and snakes.  If you are staying in La Fortuna area near the volcano, you can also indulge yourself in the mineral hot springs or do some surfing in a nearby province.

The above are some of my favorite photos from those 3 days

Behold! You’re about to experience ultimate beauty at its next level. One of our favourite photographers Zaheer from ZMolu captures with his lens yet again another beautiful wedding. It screams regal, classy and paramount elegance. The bride Emila Anand is jaw-dropping gorgeous and her groom Adeel Zafar’s dashingly handsome. The pair of them teamed up with experts Arora Wedding and Event Planning to bring to life their dream wedding – and what a dream! Naphisha from The Perfect Setting captured its essence and puzzled the pieces together without flaw- the lighting, the crystals, the orchids…

We’ve said enough and i think it’s time we let the pictures speak for themselves.

We love elegance, we love culture and we love vibrancy and this wedding is just that…and some more.  This lovely wedding from Distinct Occasions is set to blow you away. Everything about this wedding is beautiful, the bride’s a complete stunner and the groom’s a tall glass of water. All the details play so well in tying the different cultures together into a perfect bow. We adore the square tables with silver chivaris. Crystal Adair-Benning  at Distinct Occasions has perfectly infused this lovely wedding from Toronto’s Capitol Events Theatre with culture and pure beauty.

From the wedding planner Crystal from Distinct Occasions:

In my mind the most perfect wedding are experiential ones. Blending culture with faith, joy with beauty, and passion with pleasure. For Neha & Jeremy’s valentines wedding weekend we took the Bride’s Hindu faith and blended it with the Groom’s Baptist background in a wedding blend of pure beauty.

When I first met the couple they had some pretty specific requests and wishes – of course planning a multicultural wedding was on the list – but beyond that no florals, nothing overly “valentines”, a wedding feast filled with their favourites (including greek salad, pasta, beef, grilled fish, and tiramisu), and a venue that was big enough for their potential 200 guests but not big enough for any more to prevent the guestlist from getting out of hand!

I LOVE the challenge of blending cultures and specific wishes of clients. While giving me a blank palette to start from can be equally as challenging there is something so rewarding in coming up with a wedding day design from scratch with lines drawn in the sand specific wishes/desires from the couple.

The design I envisioned for this couple was a gorgeous heartfelt symbolic wedding day filled with both of their heritages. The Bride would wear a traditional bridal lengha in a colour of her choosing (a gorgeous gold) and the Groom in a very tailored and gorgeous suit. The decor would include simple centrepieces with LOTS of candlelight and room ambient lighting. The colour scheme – a gorgeous pewter and fuschia mix. Wedding cake made of dozens of cupcakes displayed like  bouquets in bright pinks with feather accents. Photography would be heavy on the portraits (typically Indian) but really focus on the couple and their love. The entertainment would focus more heavily on the indian-fusion with local DJ Jiten rocking the dancefloor. The venue would be Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto – a former theatre turned wedding venue offering drama and luxury with a touch of “wow”! And the food… Centro Restaurant… gorgeous gourmet food with Chef’s who truly get a weddings vision and even when faced with a menu that may seem disjointed work closely with me to find the ties that bind each course together for a menu that tastes as devine as it looks!

Neha looked like the epitomy of a Bollywood Star in her golden lengha literally dripping with beading. Jeremy a resemblence to Clark Kent looked dapper and polished in his tailored suit. Bridesmaids of mixed cultures wore pale pink Indian attire and the MOH in a stunning royal blue dress. Each carried a small diya candles instead of flowers. The only flowers present infact were the bride’s very simple and utterly perfect bouquet of white calla lilies. Simple, regal and stunning.

In the end, the pictures speak for themselves. This cultural fusion wedding looked as good as it felt with two cultures, two religions, and two people joining their lives forever more. I couldn’t have been more proud for Neha & Jeremy after our year of planning to see them joined as husband and wife.

Congratulations again to the happy couple!

We had the pleasure of planning our brothers wedding July 3rd, 2010. The wedding took place at a hindu temple with 400 guests. As per the request of my brother, Prashanna, and his wife, Rathika, things were kept very simple. They were some very important elements – the entrance, the music, traditional rituals that they focused on more.

The next day in the backyard of our sisters home, we had very close friends and immediate family get together for an intimate dinner and dancing.  Renaissance Studio’s Clint and Taha took the lovely couple earlier in the day for a  photo shoot with wild cats; it was pretty amazing. As animal lovers and activists Rathika and Prashanna dreamt of doing this always and thanks to the great staff at Jungle Cat World Wildlife– it was possible.

Renaissance Studio’s was absolutely fabulous. See below for teasers…

Sathya + Gobi Happy Anniversary!

Last year we had the pleasure of planning Sathya and Gobi’s extravagant and beautiful wedding The two-day celebration commenced with a hindu ceremony at the Richmond Hill Hindu Temple and to keep things very traditional they went with the gold and red color theme. The beautiful and lavish reception was held at Crystal Fountain Banquet Hall. The bride wore her koorai (red bridal sari) and changed into a customized green lengha and the groom wore a fitted gray suit. Green, cream and brown were the colors of the reception which kept everything classy. The room was lit up with LED lights and intelligent lighting. The fresh floral arrangements contained lots and lots of hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, roses, and snapdragons.

These two are an amazing couple and it was such an honour to be a part of their special day! Thank you guys!

Here is a small glimpse of a wedding we did in June. The blue and yellow wedding theme set the mood for just the type of wedding Duane and Natalie were looking for; fresh, fun and bright. The bride a marvel/superhero fan gave us the great idea of making table numbers with different marvel characters on them. The cupcake topper were figurines of Batman and Wonderwoman. The couple got hitched on June 27 at Caledon Inn following that was a tented reception. Photos by Aarthy Raja!
