93.3 WMMR Granny Grand Prix '08 (2008-08-22)

At 7:00am on Friday, August 22nd the doors to Arnold's Family Fun Center opened up to a flood of WMMR fans. The days event was the 1st ever Granny Grand Prix. Nine grandmothers over the age of 65 qualified to compete in a no holds bar racing event held on the massive go-kart track inside this awesome family facility. Nick McIlwain from the Preston and Steve Morning Show as well as Matt Cord were on location to get this competition underway. The nine competitors, Jaquie, Arlene, Toni, Barb, Gerry, Carole, Janice, Erma and Sharon all put on their game faces and reved up their engines. Catherine was the honorary checkered flag waiver and official race starter. Three qualifying heats took place to determine the top three who would compete in the championship race. These grannys didn't mess around. They might look sweet and innocent but when you put them behind the wheel of a racing go-kart they become the next Danika Patrick. The competition was fierce but when it was all over they were all friends and good sports. Thanks to the grannys for a great Friday morning of fun.
