Windows 2000/XP - Joining an NT domain using remote access
description
this procedure describes the steps that are required to enable users to log on to an NT domain from a Windows 2000 or XP computer using a remote access VPN dial-up connection
requirements
before using this procedure you will need:
- a VPN connection to the NT domain's server that is available to all users of the computer (see article 0002)
procedure
- Log on to the Windows XP/2000 computer as an administrator
- Click on the Start button, choose Settings and then Control Panel
- Double-click on System
- Click on the Computer Name tab
- Click on the [Change...] button
- Select 'Member of Domain' and enter the name of the NT domain
- Click on the [OK] button
- Enter the username and password of an administrator of the domain
- Reboot the computer
- At the logon form click on the [options >>] button
- You should now be able to select the domain and choose the option to logon using a dial-up connection
