- As part of promoting research among teachers seven applications were processed under FDP.
- Five departments have applied for national seminars to the UGC.
- Research and Publications Committee edited and published the ‘in house journal’ of Sree Narayana College “The Ensign” for the year.
- Initiatives and processing are going on for the sanctioning and publication of an indexed multidisciplinary research journal.
- Campaigning was conducted among all potent teaching faculties to apply for the U.G.C funded research projects and seminars / workshops and nine proposals were forwarded.
- During the year, three U.G.C funded projects (One major project and two minor projects) were sanctioned to our faculty members. Some of our faculty members published research papers in accredited journals. Many teachers participated and a few presented papers in international and national conferences.
- Selected research papers from the U.G.C sponsored National Seminar ‘ENVIROTECH 2008’ was edited and published by the Dept. of Zoology
(Proc. Nat. Sem. On Env. Bioyrvh: Chall. And Oppot., ENVIROTECH – 2008). - Initiatives were taken for the online publication of the research papers presented in the U.G.C sponsored National Seminar ‘ENVIROTECH 2008’ conducted by Dept. of Zoology.
- Initiatives were taken for the maintenance of a blog related with the research activities and details on the publication of papers by our faculty members.
RESEARCH PROJECTS 2009-2010

- Research grants from DST for the project entitled “Detection of the impact of sand mining on the biotic environment and trophic level of Kallada river in Kerala”. The total cost of the project is Rs. 960000/-. Principal investigator: Dr. S. Sheeba, Department of Zoology.
- Research grant received from the UGC for the minor project entitled River sand mining in kerala with special reference to trophic states of rivers. Total cost of the project¨: Rs 50,000. Dr.S .Sheeba., Faculty member, Department of Zoology.
- Research grant received from the UGC for the major project entitled Ecological status of the Fresh water wetland ecosystem in Kerala, India with special reference to anthropogenic pressure and environmental degradation. Total cost of the project¨: Rs. 8,91,300/-. Principal investigator Dr.S .Sheeba, Department of zoology.
- Research grant received from the UGC for the minor project entitled, Measurement of service quality in co-operative banks. UGC funded minor project. Total cost of the project¨: Rs.55,500/- Dr. P.S Feroze., Faculty member, Department of Commerce.
- Research grant received from the UGC for the minor project entitled, Development of Fermental fish products and its efficacy evaluation in aquaculture system as feed and fertilisers. UGC funded minor project. Total cost of the project¨: Rs.1,65,000/-. Dr.B.Hari, Department of Zoology.
