Particle Physicist. In the wild.

Inspiring! He must have taken a course by Edward Tufte.
Arjen
Well, he _is_ in infographics after all 🙂
And I love how he includes coffee intake in his “daily intake & output” graph!
Ha! Exactly — Tufte! And just how much did he have to measure that stuff in order to make that plot? 🙂
I think there must be some uncertainty in the measurement results. For example, “communication” and “humor” do not commute:-)
Ha! True. And I got to thinking — all of our CV paper data is online – spires can extract it. You coudl do some key-word matching in the titles (or abstracts or whatever) and then plot those as a function of time… Not as cool as coffee intake/output…
So you worked with two-thirds of the GHK team (Guralnik and Hagen)?
I never met or interacted with Guralnik, but did take classes from Hagen… But I didn’t work directly with him, just took quantum from him.
Ok, I saw Brown Univ. and thought I would ask.
I see — Hagen I knew from Rochester, actually — he was a prof there when I was a grad student.
Right, I knew the U of R side – not the Brown side. Spent a lot of time in B&L bldg.
Ah – I see. Right — never met Guralnik. I was only at brown about 20% time over the first tow years I was there, and less than that for the next three (mostly living in Chicago).
As for the question “who would you hire!?”, both documents are not comparable.
I really doubt any respectable academic institution would hire a scientist who sends in such an extra fancy CV like Mr. Anderson’s.
Yeah – I agree. You have to live within the norms of your field. But you could stretch them. Someone who was very good, for example, could get away with that…
give me the some samples of cv
Which tool was used (could be used) to design such a CV?
I have no idea! But if you find a good one that makes it “easy” let me know!
