As we are entering the transition period there are sure to be challenges.  This increases the already important focus we need to have on our customers.  We need to continue to create “raving fans”. We will have to be flexible in our approaches to roadblocks, yet remain firm in our customer-centric purpose.  It may be tough, but we all need to keep in mind that this process will lead to the end of our dependence on Verizon.  We need to do everything in our power, both collectively and individually, to keep  every customer.  Customer service is our greatest asset and we need to embrace this fact.

There is also much to be excited about concerning FairPoint’s video product!  Technicians in the Greenland garage are being trained in the installation process, and the first install on February 4th will begin the rollout.  There is also an effort underway to obtain more franchise agreements across Southern New Hampshire.  The temporary head end will be in Rochester.  A new lab will also be in Rochester, becoming the new “Marlboro” training center.  Two Staff Craft Assistant positions have been negotiated for the lab; Jeff Jordan will be the Equipment Installation tech, and the requirements for the Central Office tech position will announced within the next two weeks.   The Union and FairPoint are negotiating to expand the role of Splice Service Technicians into audio/video installation.  The future of the membership and of FairPoint depends on the growth of these new technologies, and this Local is committed to expanding our responsibilities into those growth areas.

The Contract has been signed, so the printed copies should be forthcoming and a copy will be posted to this website.  Our members should be proud to have what many have called the best Contract in the IBEW, and Local 2320 members pay the lowest dues in New England, and quite possibly the country.  Especially considering the current state of the U.S. economy, we are in a fortunate position, and with the potential growth of the video product, we have more to look forward to.  I am excited and hope every member of this Local is also.

Let’s make this work.  It’s our Company now.  Failure is not an option.
