Events taking place at Jampa Ling Buddhist Centre, Bawnboy, County Cavan  for the rest of July ’10 and the month August ’10

July

  • 11th, Mahayana precepts. This is a purification practice at the time of the new moon. The precepts are taken before sunrise and last for 24 hours and include partial fasting. It is best to arrive the night before due to the early start.
  • 17th. Ven.Rinpoche leaves for Mongolia.
  • 25th. Tai Ji by Romy Grey. 10.30am -1pm.

 August

  • 2nd, Open Day. Linked with Bawnboy’s Festival. There will also be a cake and book sale to raise funds for our Mongolian projects. 2.30pm- 5pm. Everyone welcome.
  • 6th/7th Yamantaka Retreat. This is only for students who have taken the Yamantaka Initiation. Please arrive on the Friday afternoon to help arrange the shrine room etc.
  • 10th, Mahayana precepts.
  • 14/15th, Children’s Weekend. Fun things to do for both children of all ages, teenagers and adults. It is also the weekend before the Fleadh this year being held in Cavan town so you could arrange a great holiday and take in both events!
  • 21/22nd, Meditation Weekend led by Joy O’ Reilly. 27th, Story Telling For Adults. Come and enjoy an evening of stories, poetry and music with Tony Cookson and Bee Smith. 7.30pm in Tara House. € 8, Conc €5.

Full Moon and New Moon Day

Prostrations to the Thirty Five Buddhas, followed by the King of Prayers. A very strong purification practice this is done regularly at the centre and can also be done at home by students on full and new moon days.

Dharma for Children

A regular meeting is held on the last Saturday of each month, gently introducing youngsters to the practise of Dharma. It includes a range of activities, both inside and out, and usually a little time in the shrine room. We welcome Parents to participate in this venture with their children. Time 3p.m.

Meditation for Beginners

Every Tuesday in Tara House from 7p.m – 8 p.m.

The Retreat Mobile is available for solitary retreats. Situated at a distance from the main houses, facing south over fields, it offers a perfect comfortable venue for solitude. There is a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and meditation room. Heating is by a log or turf stove or electricity. Help with shopping is offered by the students at the centre during any retreat. Short or long term availability. Contact the centre for details.

Tara House is also available for rent for certain types of courses

Daily Practices at the centre continue during the summer We are open all summer to visitors and students – come and spend some time here.
