If you know me and you know my humble little bloggy blog, then you know the story about how I randomly stumbled upon Bake You Happy in October 2009. They were selling their cupcakes at Its A Grind in Castaic, then we had a couple of cupcake tastings, then late last year they got a kitchen space that you could place orders at…read about that here…and then! They landed on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars…and WON!
The other night I was lucky enough to attend the viewing party at the Paseo Club and there was so much excitement in the room! Winning Cupcake Wars allowed Kim and Kim to finally open an actual STOREFRONT! I have been a fangirl of their amazing cupcakes since 2009, but to see how much their business has grown is just a really great story to follow!
Yesterday was their first day open, and of course I wanted to go check it out! At 6:30 a bunch of us went out to the shop to hang out, eat, and congratulate the girls on their new endeavor! Most of us had her cupcakes before so we really are so excited to actually have a place to stop by after work or in the evenings to buy one or two (or a dozen).
There were probably about 25 of us there last night in what turned into a successful Tweetup and there was so much happiness at the shop! The girls had a busy day but you could see how excited they were.
If you caught their episode of Cupcake Wars, then you saw that they made a licorice cherry coke pretzel cupcake which was a great combination given what they had to work with. I got to try it the other night at the viewing party and was so happy to see it available at their shop! It is their “signature cupcake” now! They are calling it a Chocolate Cherry Licorice, and it really is different than anything I’ve ever tried. Definitely worth trying this unique combination only available at Bake You Happy!
Their flavors will change, and pretty much all their cupcakes are great! My favorite is definitely the Heavenly which looks like a Hostess Cupcake and is very moist. I have written about Bake You Happy many times before on this blog, so you know how much I love their cupcakes. Definitely make it a point to stop by and check it out and congratulate the girls! Their cupcakes are only $3 and totally worth it! There is really some hometown pride with these girls! Kim is even a Hart grad! Holla!
