QUOTES FROM SOME OF
JEW DON BONEY'S SPEECHES:

ON AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: "We can't afford to celebrate a victory yet, it's like stopping to celebrate after winning the first half by a narrow margin, instead of getting ready for our opponents, who are working on their game plan to kick butt in the second half and win the game.

ON HIS MISSION:
I believe that my existence is basically to help people and to advocate for those who are victims of injustice...I have grown, I have developed. I have learned more and more and more, yet I have not changed my values and principles at all. I see no need to and will never choose to...I fundamentally want the best of everything.

ON THE FUTURE: For over two decades, I have worked to let the voices of our community be heard--fighting for the rights of our children to inherit the future they deserve. During the past three years, I've been privileged to be allowed to put grassroots experience and life-lessons to work where my skills can be the most effective as an elected official: first, as a Houston Councilmember, and now, also as Houston's Mayor Pro-Tem.

ON THE MOVEMENT:
...We have made a difference...but the battle is not over. The leaders of any people must be protected, nurtured and encouraged to strive for excellence...and the legacy, to be truly effective, must continue. You and I have a duty today to ensure that there is justice...and that the doors of opportunity remain open tomorrow for our youth...and, working together, we can do that...for the children.
