What Can You Bring to Boot Camp?

While searching for information about preparing for Marine Corps boot camp, you no doubt have wanted to know what you can and can't bring with you when you arrive at boot camp.

Short answer is - you can bring very, very little with you. You will need your drivers license, your banking information, and your social security card. Everything else will be taken away when you arrive at Marine boot camp (even your hair - ::laugh::)

Marine Boot Camp - What Can I Take?

What about my prescription medicine and/or glasses?

A Marine doctor will re-evaluate your need for those meds, and if deemed necessary, they will prescribe military-issued medication for you.

Same goes for eyeglasses. If the Marine doc decides you really do need them, you will be issued those really attractive (not) military-issue glasses. Ever wonder what you'd look like as a nerd? If you need glasses, you will find out at Marine boot camp!

Many parents of recruits like to give their kids a Bible as a going away/good luck/pray a lot gift. Can you take that Bible with you to boot camp?

Apparently, yes, you can - IF it is a military-approved pocket-sized Bible like this one.
