DAVID HEINZMANN has covered crime for the Chicago Tribune for nearly a decade. He started his journalism career with the Associated Press in Baltimore and Atlanta and also worked at the Daily Southtown in Chicago's gritty south suburbs before joining the Tribune. He has appeared numerous times on national news outlets including CNN, National Public Radio, MSNBC, and NBC's Dateline. Heinzmann grew up in rural Metamora, Ill., earned degrees from George Washington University and the University of Illinois, and lives in Oak Park, Ill., with his wife and two sons.
