New Test Requirements

Beginning October 1, 2018, the tuberculin skin test (TST) will no longer be accepted for US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) immigration exams, all US civil surgeons must use a TB blood test (interferon-gamma release assay or IGRA) as the initial screening method when a test for cell-mediated immunity to TB is required. This new requirement aligns with current CDC recommendations stating that IGRA testing is strongly preferred for those who are BCG-vaccinated.

· Vaccinations: The vaccinations required by the INS depend on your age. The INS provides a chart which explains which vaccines you need according to your age. The cost of standard vaccinations are NOT included in the price of the INS exam. Please call our office for detailed information. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. Forms and papers for INS will be completed and placed in a sealed envelope.
