FREELANCE ANIMATOR/MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNERS

Makematic are on the lookout for FREELANCE ANIMATOR/MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNERS to work with us on some exciting upcoming projects.

Makematic  develop short-form educational content that combines live action with overlaid graphics, full-frame 2D animation and motion graphics. You’ll be working alongside an established and growing team of creatives – both staff and freelance – to develop fun, engaging and slick motion graphics and animated educational content.

This position is remote-hybrid. Makematic have a large office in Belfast city centre you are welcome to work from, but our cloud based workflow allows you the flexibility to work remotely as needed. (Please note the latter will require sufficient internet speed, as noted below).

Skills and Qualities:

Motion graphics/2D animation competence
Illustration skills
Comfortable working with live action video
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to follow the in-house style guide and maintain our clients’ brand guidelines and integrity
Flexible and receptive to feedback and altering animations/artworks to better suit client needs
Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team and be able to take directions from senior animators, directors and clients
Manage time effectively, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

Essential skills:

Adobe After Effects
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator

Desirable:

Basic video editing skills
Experience in educational or explainer videos

Qualifications:

At least 3 years industry experience including video production, design and animation
Strong portfolio showcasing high-end digital design skills

** Because this position is remote-hybrid and requires moving large media files in a cloud based workflow, your remote office/home internet connection must be Minimum 20–25 Mbps download speed and 30 Mbps upload speed.

Job Opportunity: Shot Animator/Unreal Engine Cinematic Designer

Are you a passionate Unreal Engine 5 enthusiast with a flair for filmmaking? Join our team as a Shot Animator and bring our video game cinematics to life!

We do NOT operate a ‘cog in the wheel’ team structure here at Rot Mist Ltd. Our team operates like a family and help each other out on tasks and creative / technical problem solving. Requirements:
– A showreel showcasing expertise in cinematography, shot composition, and visual storytelling is mandatory.
– Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, understanding project goals and timelines.
– Passion for pushing creative boundaries and staying updated on industry trends.
– Proven experience in Unreal Engine 5’s Sequencer and in-game cinematics.
– Proficient in camera animation, scene layout, and blueprint modification.
– Strong understanding of optimizing cinematics for real-time rendering.
– Experience with creating and modifying blueprints is highly advantageous.
– Must be a resident in UK

Responsibilities:
– Utilize Unreal Engine 5’s Sequencer for camera animation and scene layout.
– Execute in-game cinematics, ensuring optimal performance and creative shot composition.
– Work with assets, animation, and FX to craft visually stunning cinematics.
– Reporting to the Cinematics Director, you will collaborate effectively within a team.
