The road to a more sustainable future is made of solar PV glass. Can you imagine walking on a floor that is generating electricity thanks to the sun to supply a building or the street lights?

Onyx Solar offers a walkable and non-slip photovoltaic floor able to integrate into any project and environment thanks to its wide range of colors. It can even be backlit with LED lights!

Thanks to the advances made by our R&D&I department, this photovoltaic solution comes with the highest quality standards: It complies with the anti-slip regulation, it supports 400 kg in point load test and reaches almost the same efficiency levels than any other photovoltaic building material.

George Washington University in Virginia (USA) was the first to integrate this innovative solution, but since then many others have joined the Revolutionyx. What do you think of this floor?

2,300 sqm of polycrystalline photovoltaic glass manufactured by Onyx Solar will protect Plaza Olivar’s passersby and power the building.

By the hand of the architect Enrique Ruiz Gutierrez, an old distribution center of the company LUMEN in Mexico City is undergoing a complete revitalization into a shopping center of more than 40,000 square meters. In it, the largest photovoltaic skylight of the country (2,300 sqm) will feature 800 units of Onyx Solar’s PV glass.

In addition to generating enough electricity to power the lighting of the common areas, elevators, and escalators, the photovoltaic glass is walkable, which helps its cleaning. It will also protect the passersby from the sun and the extreme temperature, increasing the comfort inside of the building.

Onyx Solar and the European network Citizernergy have reached a collaboration agreement thanks to which Onyx Solar’s clients will be able to easily set up a successful crowdfunding campaign to finance their PV glass project with preferential financing conditions.

CITIENERGY

Getting an offer from a crowdfunding platform and then start a campaign is as easy as providing the platform with the glass quotation, the Profit & Loss statement for the last 3 years, as well as a recent Balance Sheet. Then you will raise the funds with preferential financing conditions: Payment periods of up to 20 years and low-interest rates (from 3.5% to 8.5%).

Furthermore, by choosing crowdfunding you’ll also be reaching a whole new audience as well as engaging your customers and/or community.

The cost the photovoltaic glass would be paid back in monthly payments adjusted to be offset as much as possible by the electricity yields that the glass produces, and the electricity saved due to its thermal insulation properties.

Now you can enjoy all the advantages of Onyx Solar’s PV glass, for a lower cost than any other glass in the market.

The Revolutionyx available to everyone!

Onyx Solar is exhibiting its PV Glass solutions at World Smart Energy Week 2017 that is taking place in Osaka from 18-22 September. During an intense week, Onyx Solar will have business meetings with Japanese potential clients and distributors. The company taps this way into a promising market and continues expanding its Revolutionyx.

Onyx Solar’s transparent photovoltaic glass will generate clean electricity to feed the new factory that Heineken is building in Meoqui (Chihuahua, Mexico).

The new plant will have an initial capacity of producing 5 million hectoliters per year. It plans to be the greenest factory of the country. By the year 2020, the 66% of the power used has to come from renewable sources.

The transparent PV glass will be installed at the offices’ building and other process areas. It will enable the building to be energy self-sufficient. It will also improve its energy efficiency and thermal comfort. It will have a perfect integration thanks to the possibility of customizing the glass in terms of shape, color, size, and degree of transparency.

Blanca Brambila (Chief of Corporate Social Responsibility at Heineken Mexico), Eusebio Reynoso (Heineken Meoqui Brewery Manager) and José María Lozano (Head of Technologies at the Heineken Meoqui’s plant) tell us about the project and its collaboration with Onyx Solar.

The next phase of the installation of the 5,575 sqm (60,000sqft) of Onyx Solar’s PV Glass at Bell Works’ photovoltaic skylight has begun. In August we sent the last pieces of glass to New Jersey that are being installed in this awesome building. The PV glass will enable the building to generate its own free and clean energy, and it also dresses a space for meeting and being inspired.

The iconic building designed by Eero Saarinen is living a complete revitalization that has transformed the place into a mixed-used ‘metroburb,’ complete with spaces for work and entertainment. The construction has been one of the winners of Modernism at the American Awards.

The Miami Heat’s American Airlines Arena project has been awarded at the Global 100 awards as the Most Innovative Photovoltaic Glass Project.

We are very proud of being part of this cool skylight. 300 crystalline silicon PV glass units manufactured by Onyx Solar produce 34,500 kWh yearly. It’s also a great meeting point!

The American Airlines Arena was the first sports and entertainment center to obtain the LEED Gold recertification. A proof of its sustainability!

Onyx Solar was also recognized as the Best Global PV Glass Provider 2017 at these awards. A big honor to us!

One of the things we like the most is when technology and ecology walk hand in hand.

Madrona Marsh Nature Center in Torrance, Los Angeles, is a natural reserve where people can explore and learn the wonders of nature.

Onyx Solar provided transparent solar PV glass for its beautifully integrated photovoltaic canopy. This amorphous silicon solution allows the natural light in while filtering the 99% of UV radiation. It also prevents the release of CO2 to the atmosphere and generates free and clean electricity.

We interviewed Segun Abegunrin, from SAA Associates, about this green project.

The University of Washington and Millersville University (Pennsylvania) will integrate Onyx Solar’s transparent PV Glass on their campus as part of their commitment to sustainability.

The University of Washington’s project, designed by renowned Perkins + Will and constructed by Skanska USA, will feature 7,000sqft of transparent PV glass manufactured by Onyx Solar in their “Life Science Building”, dedicated to R&D activities. The project is set to be completed by the end of the year.

Millersville University will integrate Onyx Solar’s transparent PV glass in the curtain wall located at The Lombardo Welcome Center, its first Net Zero Energy Building. It is scheduled to be opened in January of 2018.

These two American universities join others such as Valladolid University and George Washington University in Virginia, that are already generating their own free, clean energy thanks to Onyx’s game-changer product.

Onyx Solar is working on a Photovoltaic Greenhouse project that aims to demonstrate the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of a greenhouse integrating photovoltaic glass.

The result is a Distributed Energy System capable of obtaining the necessary energy for self-consumption operation.

Therefore, the greenhouse will accomplish the function of vegetable production recovering at the same time the necessary electric energy to cover the needs of its integrated microgrid.
