CUCM 8.0  configuration for CUPS is DONE !!!

CUPS and CUCM AXL integration DONE !!!

Next stop is will start configuring services. So i thought of writing a separate blog post for the CUPS 8 services because i can see lot of new services and I’m kind of excited to test all these.

Like you do with the CUCM you can log on to the serviceability page and go to the service activation. BOOM !!! you will see lot of new services compared to the CUPS 7 and CUPS6. But if you analyze closely you will have new type pf services that start with “Cisco UP XCP”. That is Cisco Unified Presence Extensible Communicators Platform related service. There are 9 Cisco UP XCP services.

There are two mandatory services that you have to run all the CUPS servers in the cluster. That is “Cisco UP XCP Authentication Service” and “Cisco UP XCP Connection Manager” Then Lets have look on the Optional XCP Services.

Cisco UP XCP Text Conference Manager : for group chat and persistent chat rooms. If you have a mixture of Cisco Unified Personal Communicator Release 8.0 and Release 7.x users, then the Cisco UP XCP Text Conference Manager service must be running for them to communicate with one another.
Cisco UP XCP Web Connection Manager : to manage connections for web-based client applications, that connect to Cisco Unified Presence using HTTP.
Cisco UP XCP SIP Federation Connection Manager : to support federation services with third-party applications that use SIP.
Cisco UP XCP XMPP Federation Connection Manager : to support federation services with third-party applications that use XMPP.
Cisco UP XCP Counter Aggregator : if you want system administrators to be able to view statistical data on XMPP components.
Cisco UP XCP Message Archiver : for automatic archiving of all instant messages.
Cisco UP XCP Directory Service : if you want to enable third-party XMPP client applications to do LDAP searches.

Hope this XCP service mystery is solved now. So i have activate all the services because i’m going to test out all the possible scenarios in next 90 days.  Hope i can complete the OCS integration as well :D. Bye for now.
