My new bike! 1978 Honda CB550K
It feels good to be back! Unfortunately, I’ve been without a bike for the past 5 years. I grew up riding dirt bikes and have owned many, but this will be the first road bike I can call my own. It’s going to be a fantastic summer! This bike is all original and only has 8,700 miles.

Dude, I had a SL 350 of the same year as your bike. That was an awesome time for Honda bikes even though there were lead sleds compared to bikes of today. Enjoy!

I’m doing a quick restoration to this same type of bike. The ’70s Honda 550s are becoming quite collectible, especially those with so few miles on them.

That was my first bike! The only difference is that I had a sissy bar and crash bars on it, and later, a windshield. It was slow as a turtle, but smooth as silk. I took it across the US in ’80 and it’s a fond, fond memory. What a gorgeous bike you have!

I am thinking of buying this bike from a seller on craigslist.com. I’ve only been on dirt bikes so far… Do you guys think I should jump to asphalt with this bike?

I’d say go for it! This was my transition bike from dirt to street as well. It’s the perfect size and a blast to ride and work on. Enjoy!
