Coaching is about "discovery, awareness and choice" (Whitworth, et al. 1998). It is not traditional therapy where by a “treatment, remedy and/or cure for an underlying problem” is identified. Coaching actually sees the client as creative, resourceful and whole with an orientation towards the future.
Business coaching usually focuses upon a short-term time line whereby the organizational targets are defined and delivered. Examples of this would incorporate the teaching of a company policy and delivery of company procedure in a non-threatening and supportive structure. This focuses on communication as the key aspect and the facilitation of interaction by all parties.
One-on-one debriefing subsequently follows with feedback from the coach to ensure effectiveness is achieved. The coaching sessions are facilitated from a behavioral based perspective, typically by our qualified psychologists who have degrees in behavioural sciences.
Mentoring refers to a developmental relationship between a more experienced / trained person to a help a less experienced person. This one-to-one relationship involves the mentor investing time, knowledge and efforts to help the Mentee reach the identified potential.
Strategic Workforce Development coaches / mentors are seen as collaborators who work with the individual by tackling obstacles utilising support, encouragement, teaching skills and goal setting.
