Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Yoga is one of the best tools for reducing stress. Once stress is reduced, the body can heal much better and faster. This is why yoga is so beneficial and healing on many levels.
Yoga & PTSD Study A study was conducted in VA, WY & FL to use Yoga to help individuals with PTSD. The aim of the study was to help individuals with PTSD while documenting yoga's effects along the way. Participants in the study learned simple, effective ways to reduce stress through breathing and movement exercises. Each week consisted of a group class taught by a well-trained yoga teacher or yoga therapist, and in WY the Yoga Teacher was also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Along with the class, students completed a survey to monitor yoga's effects on the participant's stress. The study was for all levels of students and was especially geared to those who had never done yoga before, some had reservations about their ability to do yoga.
JJ Gormley-Etchells was the yoga therapist overseeing the study. JJ has been a Yoga Therapist since 1994 and a yoga teacher for over 20 years.
