ACA Alert: U.S. House Passes Bill to Eliminate School Counseling Program and Other Funding

 

On February 19, the new House Majority passed a controversial spending bill (H.R. 1) along party lines to impose $61 billion in government funding cuts, compared to current levels, for the rest of the fiscal year which ends September 30.  These cuts would undermine students’ access to school counselors and other necessary services and supports that help students succeed in school and life.  And worse, these cuts, if enacted, would make it extremely difficult to regain funding for these crucial programs for future fiscal years.
