a look back before moving forward

2010 has been an amazing year for ShareFest. The success of the Workday, the Summer Youth Development Academy and our year-round Youth Development Academy at Avalon Continuation High School have proven to us that our little grassroots organization is becoming a widely recognized force for positive change in our community. Others are discovering daily the work we do. New partnerships are forming and our reach continues to grow.

We’ve come a long way in seven years!

With this in mind we began discussing our image—our overall look, our attributes and how we want to be perceived. To put it into marketing terms: our “brand.”

Over the past several months we’ve been working on refreshing our brand and bringing it inline with who ShareFest is today and who we want to be in the future. We will be unveiling this new look in January 2011. Before we do, let’s take a look at the evolution of our image up till now.

In 2004 ShareFest bursted onto the South Bay scene with the inaugural Workday. Volunteers from local churches rallied together to complete dozens of service projects. Our logo that year is shown above. This logo was created by Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, the originators of the ShareFest workday concept.

After our initial Workday, we felt the need to begin to craft our own identity. The logo above was used from 2005 to 2007 and included the words: “South Bay.” The scope of the Workday grew and we began to dream of doing even more. We started to lay plans for extending our impact and felt the draw to include the L.A. Harbor area in our efforts.

In 2006 ShareFest incorporated and became ShareFest Community Development, Inc., a stand-alone community-based nonprofit organization. This opened new doors, provided numerous partnership opportunities, propelled us to new programming and an additional focus on youth. Our vision remained the same—to imprint our community with positive change—and our reach grew as more and more lives were changed.

We have come to view this evolution of our look as a maturation process. The time is right for us to launch a bold creative new look that reflects our brand and who we are. Watch this blog for the unveiling and more on our rebranding process.

Also, don’t forget your year-end tax-deductible gift to ShareFest. The work we do couldn’t be done without your support. Click on the donate button to contribute.

  1. I think that this is really a good way to show that the website still exists, as this would help to show the presence of the business.
