On the back end of the roof racks, you pop off the end cap and then slide them out, then put the end cap back on.

any tools required for this ? do you need to unscrew the end caps off ? like completely screw them off? then slide off the roof racks ?

On my '02 Yukon, I stood on the back bumper and a step ladder. Look straight down onto the end caps and you should see two Torx fasteners. Back those all the way out, slide the end caps off the side rails and slide the cross bars off the ends of the slide rails. Fit the end caps back on and screw the fasteners back down. I think my Yukon looks much better and gets maybe a half mile per gallon better gas mileage. Good luck with your project.

lol yeah i just did that at work before i got off, lol everyone was like what are you doing to your truck now ?lol anyways you have to take two screws on each side, lift a little tab in the middle pry it with a flathead then pop them open and pull on each side to make them slide

I think I might my cross bars off tomorrow and hopefully in the near future i'll take it off completely, unless I find an escalade rack for a good price.

i liked the write up someone did on taking the rack off and using molding on the roof. i dont want molding on the roof though. i wonder how noticeable/bad it would look if i took the whole rack off and just filled the holes with silicone and black set screws. its black anyway. think it would look like shit?
