Day 20 – Restoring Broken Fellowship

Throughout our fast so far, God has been deepening our relationship with Him and showing us we have a purpose and a place to belong within God’s family. Restoring broken fellowship communicates our responsibilty in the relationships we have within our lifetime.

Philippians 2:1-2 says,

“If you’ve gotten anything at all out of  following Christ, if His love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends.” It’s so important to our Father that we embrace and love one another, growing in our spiritual maturity when it comes to dealing with conflicts in our relationships throughout our life.

So as we enter this journey of restoring our broken fellowship with those around us, here are seven biblical steps we must take:

  1. Talk to God before talking to the person
  2. Always take the initiative
  3. Sympathize with their feelings
  4. Confess your part of the conflict
  5. Attack the problem, not the person
  6. Cooperate as much as possible
  7. Emphasize reconciliation, not resolution

God calls and desires us to be peacemakers because when we work for peace, we are doing what He would do. It takes a lot of work on our part to restore  a relationship but it is worth it and will bring a personal freedom to us when we postion ourselves to live right before our Father and do what pleases Him.

Let’s evaluate our lives and take inventory in our hearts so we can take these steps to restoring the broken relationships in our lives.

We can do it!
