Mission

The mission of Veritas Sports Academy, Inc. is to assist in developing students who seek to play college athletics spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically by providing a Christian education in a traditional, college-preparatory setting.

Objective

To provide a Junior College opportunity to student athletes who fell short of fulfilling their dreams of receiving an athletic scholarship to further their education.

Problem Statement

-Throughout the East Coast, from Florida to Maine, there are only four Junior Colleges that offer Football as a sport.  Student-athletes that reside east of the Mississippi must venture west to have a selection of schools to choose from in order to seek another opportunity to play football in college.

-Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC is the only Junior College within a 9 hour radius of the following states: North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland.

-Students from these states who did not meet NCAA Eligibility Requirements or went unnoticed to receive scholarship offers are limited to affordable choices near home.

-There are over 300,000 high school football seniors looking for an opportunity to continue their passion.

Why Veritas?

-VSA, Inc. performs this mission by offering post secondary educational opportunities and training to student athletes who are in need of a second chance to fulfill their dreams of being recruited by colleges and universities.

-VSA serves as the umbrella ministry to support member organizations who offer sports programs to teach students life skills and offer spiritual and academic guidance to help the student-athlete become the person that God designed them to be.

-VSA will provide leadership for Athletic Development Institutions throughout the East Coast who provide Football, Track and Field, and in the near future Basketball.

Methodology

-Set up Athletic Development Institutions that offer life skills, spiritual guidance, job readiness and academic tutoring support while students are enrolled in one of the following: a local community college, community college distance learning program, senior institution distance learning program, ACT or SAT preparatory classes.

-The Athletic Development Institutions will also provide athletic training and competition in order to market the Student-Athlete to senior institutions.

Real Life

-VSA opened the doors to its first Athletic Development Institute this spring in Greensboro, NC, entitled Piedmont Athletic Development (PAD).  For athletic competition, the team will be called the Piedmont Warriors.

-Currently thirty-three (33) athletes are in the program.

-In the first month of operation, twelve student-athletes gave their life to Christ.

-PAD currently offers services in two sports, football and track and field.

-The student athletes attend Guilford Technical Community College or participate in distance learning from accredited online universities.

-The student enrollment represents the following states:  North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Florida.
