Virtual Akron

Edwin J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall opened in October 1973. It is run by The University of Akron and occupies three acres on the western edge of the campus adjacent to downtown. The Hall was named in honor of Edwin J. Thomas, retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and one of the main driving forces for community progress for over fifty years.

The hall is one of the finest of its kind in terms of design, acoustics and creative mechanisms. Its unique moveable ceiling can be adjusted to regulate the volume, manipulate the acoustics, and alter the physical dimensions of the main hall.

E. J. Thomas Hall features a wide range of shows, including national music acts, plays, musicals, and area favorites: the Ohio Ballet and Akron Symphony Orchestra.
