Wisconsin CHMM Chapter Meeting Minutes

Meeting held at Quad Graphics, Inc.

Meeting called to order by Elizabeth Schuller at ~ 4:30 p.m.

 

Members present:  Jeff Nettesheim, Greg Meadors, Barbara Hurula, Jen Misicwicz, Troy Thomson, Nathan Nissen, Troy Stucke, Greg Konicek, Ken Konicek, Cheryl Moran, Paul Orlowski, Sonji Millet, Sue Murawski, Brian Olsen

 

Guests Present:  Peter Schmahl- Quad/Graphics, Mary Schaffhauser-Quad/Graphics, Joe Muehlbach-Quad/Graphics, Joe Schuller-GRAEF and Uriah Wolfe-GRAEF.

 

1) Presentation and Facility Tour – Cheryl Moran and co-workers provided an excellent description of the LEED (Lead in Energy & Environmental Design) Certification process that Quad/Graphics, Inc. has been working on diligently for the Sussex Plant.  The initial submittal has been made to the U.S Green Building Council in pursuit of this certification and follow-up is on-going.  Discussions also included the process taken, the benefits to the company the environment and to the employees, the challenges of LEED and the future of green building.  Participants also were treated to a tour of the facility

 

2) Committee Reports

Promotions

- Champion of Excellence Awards and Chapter Honor Roll Award will be submitted on behalf of members and the chapter both are due by April 30th.

Education

Jeff Nettesheim planning ahead for the HAZWOPER Refresher course and the 3-Day CHMM Course tentatively scheduled for July 14-16, 2009 and will be held at SC Johnson.

 

Nominations

The recent Chapter election resulted in the selection of Matt Redmann of Harley-Davidson chosen as President-Elect and Cheryl Moran of Quad Graphics was chosen as the Secretary.  Their term will be July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.  Congratulations to both, we thank you for your willingness to continue your good work with the Chapter.

 

3) Other Business

The AHMP (Alliance of Hazardous Material Professionals, f/k/a ACHMM) has offered to send a national board member for a personal visit to the local Chapters.  A personal visit is planned for mid-May by Cedric Calhoun, the AHMP Executive Director.  This should be a very informative meeting covering the recent changes within the ACHMM/AHMP and the impacts to the local chapters.  Thank you Jeff Nettesheim for offering BRP US, Inc. conveniently located in Sturtevant, WI as a meeting location.  Watch the FET Newsletter for further details.
