Special Event - The 24th Annual Bone Ride

The 24th Annual Bone Ride will be held on May 19, 2010.  Here is the information from the 22nd Annual Gala:

***************************************

The 22th annual Bone Ride to Madison will be run on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

Be a part of one of the Wisconsin Peleton's premier events.  The annual journey from Wauwatosa to State Street in Madision, and back!  The distance is 158 miles and about 150 folks are expected to join in on the pilgrimage.  The ride is open to anyone willing to make the effort.

The ride leaves from the home of cycling luminary Tom Schuler, 1761 Church Street in Wauwatosa.  Please arrive at 7:30 or so to allow time to get organized, use the bathroom, snap a picture and try and shove off as close to 8 am as possible.

For those looking to shave a few miles from the voyage, the ride will also be picking up people at Transition Cycle in Pewaukee at 9 am.

Instructions from Mr. Schuler

IMPORTANT. When you park in the Trinity Episcopal Church Parking lot, please, please, drive into the back of the parking lot and park as far back in the corners of the parking lot as possible. Thanks.

We are asking for a $5 donation to the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin (FIBS pay double), and a $5 donation for lunch and petrol for the sag drivers when we get to Madison.

When we arrive in Madison, everyone scatters and grabs lunch on their own. We reassemble at Yellow Jersey at 1:15 for a photo and then shove off at 1:30 sharp.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: We will break into four groups of about 30 during the ride, riding two by two doing approximately 5 minute pulls on the front, that way you should only hit the front once an hour in both directions. We want to keep the pace mellow for the first 7/8's of the ride both out to Madison and most of the way back to Milwaukee. The goal is to keep the 4 groups within a quarter mile of each other. Each group will have a sag wagon and if you get a flat/mechanical, please pull over, fix the flat/mechanical and then get shuttled back to the group in the sag vehicle. The whole group will not stop with each flat/mechanical.

On the way back from Madison, as soon as we crest the hill over the Beltline and before we break into our four groups for the ride back, we will be doing an observance for ride of silence http://www.rideofsilence.org/main.php. I am sure most of us know someone who has been injured of killed while riding. Most recently, Ryan Barnett of Blue Bicycles was just paralyzed 10 days ago in a bike/truck accident.
