OPEN MIC AT THE GALLERY which will take place on the 4th Sunday of each month from 2 pm until 5 pm at the Georgina Art Gallery, 149 High St. Sutton On.

Organizers are asking each participant to toss in a toonie to help defray the cost of the room. There will be a small sound system with mics for vocals and instruments and a house guitar to borrow. Each set will be up to 15 minutes long.

Sign up starts at 1:30 pm so just find your genial host, Ed Winacott, (barnmusic73@hotmail.com) and let him know you're interested in performing.

This stage is open to all skill levels and all styles of acoustic music or spoken word and aims to be a welcoming, listening venue for new talent to test the waters or for experienced performers to perhaps try out new material.

Come out early, view the art collection and stay on to either perform or just to listen and enjoy. Tea/coffee will be available.

The Tiffin Bay Folk Club presents The NEW Acoustic Open Stage Series; a free event at the Midland Cultural Centre.

This event will be held once per month (next one is May 13th) usually on the 2nd Monday from 7:00-9:30pm . This is a free event donated by the Midland Cultural Centre offering a more intimate, smaller professional stage configuration, ideal for a single or up to 3 acoustic performers. This evening is more centered toward the Folk/Blues/Jazz musician or even poetry. Kevin Firth is the host and there will be a featured performer each month.

Check out Midland Jams... held every other Monday night (next one is May 6th) with full lights and sound on the main stage Rotary Hall at the Midland Cultural Centre, King Street in Midland. The Jam is mostly an open mic although folks play with each other and accompany singers. Technically it’s an electric open mic but acoustic players are welcome as well . In fact, everyone is welcome and all genres are represented but it does lean towards rock as opposed to folk. It's a real cross-section of people from Midland, Barrie and surrounding areas who are a responsive and friendly bunch.
