Ready to race

After the horses parade, the jockeys mount their horses for the coming race. Ice cream is always popular, even on a cold hilltop on race day. 🙂

Bunched up at Dawstown

I attended the point to point horse racing this afternoon at Dawstown, Co. Cork, with others from Blarney Photography Club. We were lucky with the weather, even if it did become cold later on.

There was a good crowd there, and I recognised some faces from last year. If the shouting from the crowd is anything to go, they enjoyed the day too!

An empty street in Seaside

An empty road in the town of Seaside that looks very like a road in the movie The Truman Show. The road is made of red bricks, white picket fences line the sides of the road under trees, and a few parked cars line the road. There's an ornate building at the end of the road.

This is something you won’t see often in The Truman Show, it’s an empty street.

It’s not the same road as the one with the traffic jam in the movie, but it’s similar. It’s surreal walking around the town of Seaside in Florida after seeing The Truman Show.

Llafranc at Night

A panorama of the town of Llafranc in Spain taken at night. Streets are lit up and the light of the Moon is reflected in the water nearby.

The Spanish coast of the Mediterranean is a sea of artificial light, making astrophotography pretty difficult to do, but it does make for interesting panoramas.

The original merged image is over 9,000 pixels wide and full screen, it’s great to zoom in and scroll around.

Transparent Legs

In a long exposure photo of a street in Valencia, someone stood in front of my camera so their legs are seen as transparent shadows in the photo. Busy street with taxis and a bus under a cloudy sky lit by the setting sun.

On a busy street in Valencia, I took photos of the passing traffic under a cloudy sky lit by the setting sun. Another tourist decided they wanted to photograph the same scene and somehow failed to see me crouched near my camera. It wasn’t until his companion shouted at him to move that he obliged and moved!

Pigeons take flight

Pigeons rise into the air as a dog barks at them. A man carrying his infant with the dog on a lead is visible in the background.

I heard him say, “sorry”, when his dog barked and scared all the pigeons, but he did me a favour. The pigeons in Bishop Lucey Park weren’t doing much!

Met him eating mushrooms
