Professor John Cairns, Jr. passed peacefully on November 5, 2017 at the age of 94 with his daughter Karen at his side.  Preceded in death by his wife Jean Ogden Cairns and survived by daughters Karen Cairns, Heather Cairns Chambers (Carl), sons Stefan (Nan) and Duncan (Deborah Foster).  Further survived by grandchildren Moria, Laura and Joel Chambers, Hannah Cairns and Shannon Huecker.  John will be remembered as a husband, father and grandfather, distinguished professor and academic mentor, ecological pioneer, prolific author, champion of social consciousness and sustainability, fly fishing enthusiast, avid hiker, experienced folk dancer and proud US Navy veteran of World War II.

I will continue to maintain his website so his writings are available, although there will not be new content.  I will continue to add pictures and other things as I get them or find them .  If you have any questions,  address them to cairnscham@gmail.com
