Welcome at AudioGames.net!

Audiogames, as opposed to video games are computer games who's main output is sound rather than graphics.

Using sound, games can have dimensions of atmosphere, and possibilities for gameplay that don't exist with visuals alone, as well as providing games far more accessible to people with all levels of sight.

This site exists as a community portal for all things to do with audiogames. Here you will find news, articles, an active community forum and our database of over 500 titles on platforms from Microsoft Windows to iOS.

If you've not played an audiogame before, strap on some headphones, try one for yourself and hear the difference!

sound_lib/pybass, reverb, how?

It feels like I picked the worst of the big libs for reverb. This is confusing and my research makes it more confusing and I'm not sure how to go about asking about it at unforeseen, so I'm posting here first.First, sound_lib wraps fx as minimally as possible. OK, fair enough. Pybass is still in there, along with the option of ctypesing directly but mixing that with the higher level wrappers seems extra dangerous.Second, Bass just plain sucks at reverb on anything th... Questions about expearmenting with other Linux Distrobutions

I have a spare ssd, and am starting to have curiosity about trying other distros. I have no complaints about arch Linux, which I use most of the time, but I also would like to mess around with other distros. I know solutions like virtualization also exist, but I would rather use a distro on bare medal so I know what works on my computer set up. Fedora sounds interesting.I am hesitant to waist time setting things up how ever, because I use several projects that the AUR provides, like... [read more]

My quest to gather the old vocaliser voices.

Hello all. Over the last couple of days or so I have been on a quest to gather all of the premium old vocaliser voices that almost noone looks to have anymore. The older voices had bigger file sises along with a bit of a more quality sound to them, as well as voices that the newer vocaliser looked to have removed when upgrade was made. I had a look at the old vocaliser site as well as blindhelp both past and present but all bhp looks to have is the newer voices, and that&... [read more]

Experience with Asus ROG Ally

Hi guys,So the relationship with the MacBook has been really fantastic overall. She's kind, caring, communicative, and adaptable. She's great at working the way I want to and generally not putting up a fuss. That being said, something my dear is very adversed to is gaming. For real though, I want to get back into some fairly casual gaming (mostly retro, with the odd new release, audio game or Steam game). Because of that, I was considering getting something portable li... [read more]

You're fine, everything else is just stubborn

You might not feel fine. You might think that there's something wrong with you, that some wires were connected wrong in your brain. Maybe you wish to rip all the individuality and personality out of you and replace it with something that's more compatible with the world around you. But ironically, that's the only thing wrong with you. This world is a prison and its guards have been firing stupidity beams at your head ever since you were born, they told you that you had to co... Any chance of Elite Dangerous being playable?

Title basically says it all. I would love to have an accessible space game that I can just fly around and explore in, and this one has always interested me due to the excellent sound design. I have attempted to reach out to Frontier via email in the past, but they never did reply to me unfortunately. At this stage, I'm uncertain if they would want to add accessibility, but I was wondering if the community has ever taken a look at this game?I was thinking it might be possible wi... [read more]

Linux Questions

Hi all. I've got an older computer running Windows 10, and I'm thinking about putting Linux on it since I've always wanted to try it out and think this computer might run better with Linux. I read an older topic about Linux accessibility, and I saw a few recommendations for distros to try out. Is NixOS a good one for a beginner, or should I try Mint or Ubuntu? Also, what's the best way to install Linux and replace Windows? Thanks. [read more]

Codefactory Voices for NVDA Discontinued?

Hey guys!I just reinstalled Windows, and I was going to go ahead and reinstall the CodeFactory voice addon that I had in the past. It seems as though they are discontinuing the addon or something though?According to their website, they had some complications with getting the current range of voices working on the latest NVDA versions, so I guess we are SoL? I paid $60 for these voices, so that sort of sucks. Any idea what we can do about this? Thanks! [read more]

Can Patents be a Good Thing

This is gonna be a bit all over the place, because I'm tired and don't feel like writing a huge structured post about this right now.Seems like all patents are good for is acting as a lazy developers fail safe for stifling competition. Let's just say hypothetically that someone decided to make an open-sourced clone of ETI Eloquence, (using this as an example since a lot of people here use it quite a bit.) This new synthesizer sounds exactly like Eloquence in every per... [read more]
