Pacific Northwest AAU provides membership services for over 35 sports at both the local and national level. Once a membership is purchased, it will apply coverage for any AAU sport. An AAU membership provides secondary insurance for individuals at any AAU sanctioned practice or event. Memberships run from September 1st through August 31st of the following year. Parents should be aware that all AAU coaches MUST pass a national background check as part of their membership requirements. Signing up for an AAU membership is easy! *ATTENTION Club Directors
Beginning September 2024, The AAU will be changing their club level coverage, adding multiple tiers to the current system. Levels one and two will remain the same but will be labeled A and B. Level three (soon to be labeled C), will have three levels of its own. Again, these changes do not go into effect until the next membership cycle. For updates visit this link.
Coaches Info
Coaches MUST obtain a current AAU membership in order to hold practice or participate in any AAU event. This includes both the local and national level. As a benefit to being an AAU coach, Pacific Northwest AAU will also provide you with practice insurance for most facilities in the region. Click here to find out more. As a part of your AAU membership coaches are required to pass a national background check through Verified Volunteers. All coaches are also required to view and complete the concussion protocol forms and training videos listed below under The Lysted Law section on this website.

How to Start a Club or Team
Anyone interested in starting their own club or team can do so. The AAU can help with this! Pacific Northwest AAU will provide insurance for practice and covers most venues in Western Washington. AAU club status will also allow you to participate in any local or national AAU event. Requirements include:
-AAU membership by club director, all players and by all coaches
-Submit the yearly club fee
-Complete the forms and trainings for “The Lystedt Law concussion protocol
-Team tryouts can be posted on our local events page. Click here to submit

Event Host
When hosting an event, (tournaments, camps or leagues) event directors must have all current AAU membership requirements in place. You must also apply for event status through the national AAU website and submit the necessary fees. Your event will then need to be sanctioned by Pacific Northwest AAU. Once completed, your event will be approved for insurance at your designated facilities and may be posted on both the local and national websites.

DY Sports
If your basketball team is looking for a place to play in the coming weekends, we may have the spot for you! For those teams that have outgrown thier local recreation league but are still navigating the world of premier hoops, DY Sports is the organization for you. The name says it all; Developing Youth Sports. Based out of Seattle, DY Sports now offers tournaments in Tacoma and Marysville. Now teams from Canada to Portland can get the game experience they need. Check out DY Sports and see why "watching a team win their first game" may be the most memorable sports experience of your life (J.V.).

MEMBER FOCUS
Pacific Northwest AAU is proud to feature one of our local basketball members, Keegan Williams. Keegan is a Junior in high school who grew up in the North end and has been an AAU member since 2017. At 6' 4", he has been an integral teammate on both North City Hoops and J-Dub Basketball Club. Keegan has also participated in multiple showcases, most notably PNW Prep in Beaverton Oregon & Prep Hoops 250 in Kirkland. By participating in these AAU activities, Keegan hopes to increase his chances of playing at the next level. Ultimately, he would love to achieve his dream of playing Division I basketball but would be pleased to find himself playing NAIA. Keegan loves to win, understanding the payoff of all the time, effort and sacrifice put in by all members of a team. Outside of basketball, Keegan enjoys spending time with his family, especially his older brother who he looks to for guidance in navigating the youth sports world. Keegan also enjoys watching basketball, most notably his favorite player Dejounte Murray. A fun fact about Keegan, he likes to rollerskate in his spare time.
