The Washington State Department of Agriculture has been serving the state for more than 100 years. Our diverse roles include providing fee-based services to the agriculture community, promoting Washington agricultural products, and ensuring regulations are observed.  
 
We work extensively with farmers and ranchers, but our responsibilities – from ensuring food safety to environmental protection – touch the lives of millions of people locally, nationally, and abroad.

SPONGY MOTH TREATMENTS BEGIN IN WESTERN WASHINGTON

WSDA will begin spongy moth eradication treatments this Friday, May 10. The first site to be treated will be in Thurston County. 

STATE CONTINUES QUEST TO ERADICATE INVASIVE SPARTINA

This year’s treatment season for Spartina starts June 1. WSDA will lead eradication efforts in Grays Harbor, Hood Canal, Willapa Bay, Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula and near the mouth of the Columbia River.

VIETNAM, WASHINGTON STATE SIGN AGREEMENT ON AG DEVELOPMENT, TRADE

WSDA Director Derek Sandison signed an agreement with Vietnam’s Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Hoang Trung on Monday, April 8 in Vietnam.
