Restaurant and hotel interior design

A conversation with Jeff Cahill/Cahill Studio

Jeff Cahill, the owner of Cahill Studio, is not just your average interior designer – he’s a true “restaurant brander.” According to Cahill, the key to a successful restaurant lies in the meticulous attention to atmospheric details, something he believes can make or break a business, unlike those opting for mere paint-and-paper makeovers.
In a conversation with Red Bank Green, Cahill emphasized the importance of committing to a full rebranding approach. He pointed out that many establishments in the restaurant industry fail within a year due to superficial transformations, contributing to the industry’s high 50-percent failure rate. In contrast, Cahill Studio boasts an impressive success rate of over 90 percent.
When it comes to design specifics, Cahill’s touch can be seen at Char, where he has implemented captivating elements such as a shimmering waterwall creating the illusion of pencil-thin water jets without a splash. Other distinctive features include floating puck-shaped lamps, vibrant hot orange lighting, and a bar with floor-to-ceiling windows that enhance the urban vibe inside and out – all hallmarks of exceptional restaurant and hotel interior design.
Every detail, from the flickering-flame accents to the bold orange waveform awning outside, is a product of Cahill’s creative vision and had to be custom-made while staying within budget. According to those who have worked with him, such as Ingrao, owner of the 200-seat Char, Cahill’s ability to understand and contribute to the ultimate goal is what sets him apart. Ingrao commends Cahill and his talented team for their visionary approach and describes them as fantastic in bringing a unique vision to life.
