Third World Awareness is a grassroots charity based in Canada, dedicated to supporting and empowering communities in Haiti. We are a 100% volunteer-led charity, made up of a diverse group of passionate humans.
Our journey began in 1990 when our founder, the charismatic high school teacher John Callighan, embarked on the first volunteer trip to Kingston, Jamaica with 28 participants, including students and teachers. Little did we know that this trip would mark the beginning of numerous journeys, ultimately leading to over 30 years of dedicated efforts in Haiti.
